What to do with your old bras

The other week I posted about how you need to get rid of any old underwear that’s past its prime. If it’s saggy and baggy it’s only going to make you look and feel the same! And one thing’s for sure, once you’ve got some Gok Wan lingerie, all your other underwear will definitely pale in comparison.

But what can you do with your old bras? Understandably, charity shops aren’t keen on selling-on second hand underwear. However in these days when everyone is going green, there is something you can do to recycle your bras.

Take your bras to Oxfam

Although Oxfam don’t sell bras in their charity shops, they can send them on to their Wastesaver recycling plant. Wastesaver will either recycle the fabric of the bra, or send them on to developing countries where bras from western countries are heavily sought-after.

Get crafty with your bras!

I think the bra bag looks pretty cute – though obviously it depends what bra you use!

You’ll be pleased to know that as the Gok Wan lingerie is made from the best fabrics in the business it will last and last… so hopefully will never end up as a bra bag!

    You can also donate your old bras to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance ‘Bag It Up’ Bra campaign.
    Many women don’t realise there is a market for second-hand bras; therefore most are thrown away with household waste. We are helping to raise awareness that second-hand bras are actually in demand, particularly in West Africa, where traders can buy and sell quality used garments at affordable prices, whilst raising vital funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity.
    If you live within the Yorkshire region, please donate your bras in any of our big yellow textile recycling banks. Your nearest bank can be found through our postcode locator at http://www.bagitup.org.uk. Please mark up the bags ‘Yorkshire Air Ambulance Bra Campaign’, so we can separate out the bras from any other textiles, clothes and shoes that the public so generously donate.
