So long Trinny and Susannah…

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

I’ve just read that Trinny and Susannah’s contract with ITV has been terminated. The terrible twosome, who struck fear into the hearts of women with their 360 degree mirror and boob-grabbing initially shot to fame with their show “What not to wear” but have been declining in popularity over the course of their most recent TV shows, “Trinny and Susannah undress…” and “Undress the nation”.

I think the journalist puts it perfectly when he says:

But by then, Channel 4’s Gok Wan had cornered the market. For Trinny and Susannah, it was an impossible fight. After all, if you’re looking for fashion advice who would you turn to - a pair of bossy, annoying women, or your gay best friend?

So it seems time is now up for Trinny and Susannah… I wonder what they’ll go on to do after this? More TV? Or fade into obscurity?

Ah well, good thing we’ve got Gok to keep us all looking gorgeous!

P.S. Did any of you see Gok Wan presenting the Best International Male awards at the Brits last night? I totally missed it!

Gok Wan not on the girls’ side for once…

Friday, February 13th, 2009

If, like me, you want to be kept bang up to date on everything Gok Wan gets up to in this year’s Celebrity Apprentice, you’ll want to keep an eye on the official Apprentice blog.

It looks like Sir Alan is sticking to his usual formula of encouraging a girls v boys battle of the sexes, meaning, for once, Gok will be against rather than for women.

It’s definitely going to be essential viewing!

New interview with Gok Wan

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

The Irish Indpendent has a great new interview with Gok Wan

As well as a run down of Gok Wan’s ever so busy career to date there’s a juicy little bit of info at the end about Alan Carr, with whom he is soon to appear in Celebrity Apprentice 2009.

When questioned whether he fancied Alan , Gok had this to say:

“I know Alan very well… He’s adorable; he’s so funny and entertaining and makes me laugh.” There’s a pause, “so yes, actually, I do fancy him”.

Maybe romance will blossom in the Celebrity Apprentice flat?  :)

Gok Wan to take part in Celebrity Apprentice 2009

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

This is very exciting news. Gok Wan is going to be one of 8 celebrities taking part in a special Comic Relief edition of the Apprentice series with Alan Sugar. I’d love to see how Gok reacts to Sir Alan in the boardroom. I’ll bet with a whole heap of cheeky comebacks - don’t let me down now Gok!

And the other participants? Jack Dee, Gerald Ratner, Patsy Palmer, Carol Vorderman, Ruby Wax, Michelle Mone, Fiona Phillips, Jonathan Ross and Alan Carr. :)

This sounds almost too good to be true - I do hope my sources are correct.  I bet Gok Wan and Ruby Wax get on like a house on fire - can you imagine?

Gok Wan paves way for plus size acceptance

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

In a recent interview with plus size designer Anna Scholz, Gok Wan’s been credited with helping change public perception of plus size women for the better, particularly through his 2 shows How to Look Good Naked and Miss Naked Beauty.

Nice to see Gok getting some of the credit he deserves… and that things are slowly changing.

If you like the sound of Anna Scholz’s designs they are available through Simply Yours‘ sister site Simply Be. She has created an exclusive collection of both fashion and lingerie.
