Janet Street Porter on what it’s like to get Gokked!

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

I love Janet Street Porter. I think TV (and the world in general) needs more women out there with big personalities who aren’t afraid to say what they think and don’t care what people say.

So when she agreed to a Gok Wan fashion makeover I knew it was going to be good!

In this article she talks us through what it was like to work with Gok Wan. He gave her wardrobe a good going over, then took her high street shopping to find an outfit for her to wear to the Brits.

This was the end result. - I think she looks fab. Good work Gok!

And did Gok find anything scary lurking in JSP’s wardrobe? Of course he did!

“I’d got out a few of my best outfits from the past ten years, but before he could shout ‘Go, girl!’ he was rummaging in the cupboard on the hot scent of a fully fledged fashion disaster.

He plucked out a silver leather mini dress and said: ‘What’s this? You must have looked like a jacket potato on Bonfire Night!’ “

:D

Not one but two new Gok Wan interviews!

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Gok Wan fans will be thrilled to read these two fab new interviews with Gok.

The first one is from the Daily Record. In it he talks about his new series of Gok’s Fashion Fix and how he got his hands on the wardrobes of Janet Street Porter and Kirstie Allsopp for the series.

He also gives his thoughts on Trinny and Susannah:

“I bumped into Trinny when I filmed Celebrity Apprentice. I had never met her before. I called her a posh bird, but jokes aside, I thought she was very kind, sincere and accommodating.

“People want me to have a big row with them, and it’s not my style.

“I wish I could say Trinny came along with her big Gucci handbag and then slapped me around the face when I met her - but she didn’t! She was lovely.”

Ah Gok, kind as ever!

He also completed the Guardian’s ‘This much I know’ interview.

Fave quote:

“People think you go home and be a celeb, sipping Laurent-Perrier and listening to classical music. You don’t. You go home and wash some pants in the sink.”

Classic!

As you’d expect the girls look gorgeous as a result fo Gok’s magic makeovers.

Gok Wan does something funny for money

Monday, March 16th, 2009

So did you see Gok Wan on Celebrity Apprentice?

Although he was clearly a bit stressed at times I thought he did a great job, doing all the decor and sorting all the outfits for the dancers. And it was really nice to see him more in his usual personality compared to how shaken he seemed on ‘Too Fat Too Young’. So funny!

I personally thought that the boys’ ‘Swap Belt’ was a much better product than the girls’ ‘Stick Stuck’ but I guess they fell down, like many a team on the Apprentice, on their financial calculations.

Shame Alan Carr had to get fired… he really makes me laugh. Any one else think he sounds just like Zippy? :)

For anyone who’s forgotten about what Gok does best…

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

I came across this fab post on the Rubber Chickens blog today. It’s a wonderful reminder about how amazing what Gok Wan does on How to Look Good Naked really is, which is easy to forget when he does so much else and has so many imitators and detractors.

It’s well worth a read. Read it now.

Gok Wan the shopaholic!

Monday, March 9th, 2009

There’s a fab new interview with Gok Wan up now at the Mail online.

In it Gok talks about his own body insecurities - and about how he can be a really bad shopper! Apprarently half the things he buys he gets because he’s seen them on someone he thinks looks hot so gets the look for himself, then doesn’t wear it!

Like most of us, he likes to cheer himself up with a shopping splurge - except for Gok, sometimes that can be a £10,000 splurge or a Rolex impluse buy. Ah, that’s the life.
