She’s the stunning Swedish plus size model Erika Elfwencrona - one of the top models for Simply Yours lingerie.

We thought it was time we got to know her a little better. You hear a lot about Crystal Renn but not so many other successful plus size models - but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. So let’s hear it for our Erika!

We caught up with the blonde bombshell when she was over for a fitting and captured it all on video to share with you. Here are the first in the series of interviews - more to follow!

The girls got to keep their Gok Wan lingerie… and sometimes when you hear a little jingle you can tell when they’ve got it on

After reading this article I simply had to do a post about it. A Brazillian lingerie designer has created a lingerie line that is fitted with a GPS tracking device!

The lingerie has caused a bit of an outrage, as it’s basically a way for men to keep tabs on a woman’s every move, and has even been branded by some as ‘a modern day chastity belt’. The lingerie maker denies this, but if it’s not for this then what exactly is it for?

The lingerie designer argues that the underwear targets the ‘modern, techno-savvy woman’ and that women could wear the lingerie for ‘protection’.

But really, aside from the restrictions on your freedom:

1) How safe does it really make you just because someone knows exactly where you are at all times? If something was to happen to you this lingerie doesn’t actually let anybody know about it, only where you are, and if where you are is far away from the person keeping an eye on you then would good is that? I suppose the lingerie would be helpful in the case of being kidnapped, which I have to say has never really been my worry when walking through a secluded car park at night. Lingerie that would fend off a would-be attacker (maybe shooting lasers fembot style?) - now that’s something I’d like to see!

2) If you really wanted to wear a GPS system why not just get a GPS system instead of this $500 lingerie

3) Yes I said $500 lingerie

Just think how much gorgeous Gok Wan lingerie you could buy for the equivalent of $500. Until they invent the fembot laser bra, I think you’re best off sticking with Gok.

In a recent Gok Wan interview (read on to the end), it was questioned whether Gok Wan having his own range of control underwear contradicted what he stood for. The argument was that Gok is all about looking good naked and embracing your natural body – being proud of curves. So they queried how Gok Wan launching his own range of corsets and tummy tuck knickers fits in with this and suggested that it was not a very pro-feminist approach.

I can see where they are coming from with this question. The corset has indeed been an oppressive item of clothing for women to wear throughout much of history (read my article Curves and Corsetry on it here). And indeed, in an ideal world, women should not need control underwear to make them feel good about themselves.

In an ideal world women would also not need make-up, false nails, high-heeled shoes, fashionable clothes, expensive hair-cuts… (the list goes on) to feel good about themselves either.

In an ideal world Gok’s services would not be required at all. There would be no market for a man whose career is based around making women feel good about themselves because women would already feel good about themselves.

But that’s just the thing; this is not exactly an ideal world.

It’s a world where women are put under unbelievable pressure every day to conform to an unattainable beauty and body ideal. And where so many women are made to feel miserable when they do not measure up.

Unfortunately, we are a long way from a society where women are no longer expected to ‘measure up’. And in the meantime women suffer with dangerous diets and go under the knife to have parts of their body made bigger or smaller in order to feel better about themselves.

In a world like this, where happiness for a lot of women remains inextricably linked to their body confidence, Gok is offering all women an easy way to feel good, with lingerie that is beautifully comfortable to wear and makes them feel confident too. Every woman should love and feel proud of her body. Every woman has the right to feel sexy! And this underwear is here to help, to give every woman those fab feelings they deserve to experience.

If anybody is on women’s side in this crazy airbrushing, body-obsessed world, Gok Wan is. If he had the time to help every woman feel proud of her own body the way it is I’m sure he would.

Sadly he can’t. But the Gok Wan underwear is the next best thing.

To celebrate Gok Wan coming into our office last week, my colleague Melissa the cupcake queen made Gok some cute little cakes beautifully decorated with bras and knickers!

Gok was very pleased with the lingerie cakes, as you can see from these pics!

Well I’m back from my hol – I had a fab time, but the first thing I wanted to know this morning at work was – what happened when Gok Wan came in?!

As it happened, the plan was changed so that Gok surprised three Simply Yours ladies at their desks to let them know that they had been selected! I can’t believe I missed it!

One of the three was Sam who featured in my last post. This is what she said about meeting Gok:

“I was absolutely mortified when Gok Wan came into the office calling out my name, but he came over and gave me a big hug, which immediately put me at ease. Gok said I had a ‘great 1950’s thing going on’ but I needed more support for my boobs and something to accentuate my waist.

So I went and tried on pieces from the Gok Wan lingerie range, settling on the Banger Booster bra and the Super Slicker Knickers. The Gok knickers were a lot more comfortable than I expected and gave me a really smooth silhouette without holding me in too much. Other shapewear I’ve tried is too tight on the tummy and gives me tummy ache. The Banger Booster supported my boobs and gave me a great cleavage. I love how you can adjust the bra straps to cross over at the back. I’ve got very narrow shoulders and this makes me feel really secure.

Gok was lovely - very funny and caring and made me feel special. So special that I was happy to stand in front of him and a film crew in just my bra and knickers!”

Sam also told me that when Gok first came in to meet her (after shouting her name at the top of his voice in our extremely open plan office) he made her twirl around so he could take a good look at her. Then he made her undo her top a little bit and peeked in to get a good look at her boobs! Next, (totally living up to his cheeky chappy reputation) Gok asked her to bend over – and he slapped her on the bottom! To make up for it though, Gok gave her a big kiss – and all was forgiven!

 
Here is what Michelle and Sophie, the other two girls had to say about it:

Sophie:

“Gok is really nice, very friendly and re-assuring. Although he did make a holy show of me by pulling my knickers up out the back of my skirt whilst I was stood at my desk!

The underwear felt really nice on and made a big difference to stomach and my waist! I wore the Curve Controller body shaper and it felt very nice and quite sexy on (although I did have to put my heels on too!).

You could tell he was very genuine when he gave us compliments and kept telling us how fabulous we looked!

We sang happy birthday to him and had some cake. Gok was lovely and I would definitely recommend the Gok Wan underwear to ladies of all shapes and sizes, because it not only does it job but it makes you feel very slinky!”

 
Michelle:

Well where do I start - apart from Gok stating I had great bangers! Until I tried on the Gok Wan lingerie I didn’t believe that my assets could actually be lifted - I thought that they would permanently stay south!

I was fitted into a Gok bra, waist control pants and the boned corset all I can say on behalf of the larger lady - wow! I actually had a figure: my waist came back which I had not seen for the last 19 years and to be honest was amazed at the results. I do not really dress up underneath my clothing but I have now had the Gok Wan lingerie for a week and can now safely say that I would buy most of the products - they make you feel really good about yourself.

It’s all about Gok!

Well, the 25 lucky ladies who will get to meet Gok Wan tomorrow and try on the Gok Wan lingerie have now been notified… and they’re all looking forward to it with a mixture of elation and trepidation. I managed to get a few words from a couple of my colleagues to find out how they felt about meeting Gok Wan and trying on the lingerie.

Sam: “I’m very excited about meeting Gok but I’m a bit apprehensive as well as I don’t know quite what to expect. I hope I get chosen as I’d like to see what the lingerie can really do. I’m hoping Gok can do something to make my stomach appear less noticeable – I’d quite like to try on the waspie.”

Lyndsey: “I’m feeling pretty nervous actually and a bit prudish all of a sudden! I’m a big fan of Gok Wan so it’s going to be great to meet him. I don’t know which of the lingerie range he’ll put me in if I get picked. I think the lingerie range is really cool though, I think the corsets are dead sexy and I love the purple colourway.”
